Easygoing, Effortless Daytime Makeup With Ilia and Saie

ilia saie september 2021Hooray for a little bit of face paint!

I treated myself to some new makeup last weekend — a taupe cream shadow, a matte coral-pink cheek and lip cream, a brown pencil liner and a new mascara.

ilia saie september 2021 k3Swatches from the top: Ilia Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Fresco, Ilia Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment in Temptation, Ilia Clean Line Gel Liner in Dusk and Saie Mascara 101

I’m still in the “getting to know you” stage with everything, but here are some quick thoughts on these pieces, all which are part of Ilia’s and Saie’s permanent collections.

  • Ilia Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Fresco: So good! Pigmented and easy to blend, with a crease-free formula that lasts. The sheen finish is forgiving on fine lines, too.
  • Ilia Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment in Temptation: Where has this been all my life? It’s long-lasting on cheeks and lips, and a little goes a long way. Blends and layers like a dream.
  • Ilia Clean Line Gel Liner in Dusk: I bought this mostly because the color reminds me of MAC Coffee, and I like the twist-up packaging. It stays on my lash and waterlines all day long.
  • Saie Mascara 101: Just OK. Great length and decent lift, no flaking or smudging. Easy to remove. I could use more of a volume boost, though, especially at the roots.

ilia saie september 2021 k1I popped on a little bit of gloss (Chanel Rouge Coco in Physical) on top of the lip pigment just for fun!

I’ve liked what I’ve tried from Ilia so far, and so I just added these things to my wish list.

  • The Necessary Eyeshadow Palettes: I feel like both the Cool Nudes and Warm Nudes could be equally as wearable. Which one would you choose?
  • Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40: This tinted SPF 40 sunscreen serum with a dewy finish has niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, and it comes in a bunch of shades with different undertones.
  • Balmy Gloss Tinted Lip Oil: Of course I want the coral color, Tahiti!
  • Color Block Lipstick: Wow, so many bold options! I love the look of the reds, especially Flame.
  • Balmy Tint Hydrating Lip Balm: I feel like these could be great touchup balms to keep in purses and pockets.
  • Clean Line Liquid Liner: Girl, you know I can’t resist a liquid liner. I really hope the tip is flexible and not too stiff.
  • Fullest Volumizing Mascara: I like the shape of the brush.

Okay I lurrrrve the I Dream of Jeannie hairdo on you! Super cute!
I haven’t heard of Saie or Ilia but I adore a multi use pigment product. I still have the dregs (is that a word?) of Becca lip and cheek tint. It seems so much more effortless to do everything with a ring finger.

How’s the little home slice doing in school?

It takes FOREVER to tame the cray-cray baby hairs, but I like how it’s all out of my face.

Thank you for asking about my little love. She’s doing GREAT! She loves school and wishes she could go everyday. I know I say this about every age, but I think I love this stage the best. She’s so curious and sweet. It’s lovely!

How are you and y our family doing?

Hi, I have the dregs of Becca beach tint in watermelon, and I will mourn it when it ends. Have you found any dupes you like (especially with Becca ending)?
I recently tried Olio E Osso’s tinted balm in French Melon and was delighted that it’s pretty to close to how I remember Tarte’s tipsy cheek stain (also RIP) lighting up my face. Thanks.

I’m sad to say I haven’t tried anything as good as the Becca beach tint. I bought a multi purpose tint from Milk Makeup but it’s in stick form–and it doesn’t last as long as the Becca–it’s not nearly as pigmented.

Love, love, love the Ilia serum skin tint (on my second bottle) and their lash lengthening mascara!

      Hi Deretta,

I’m totally lusting over that serum, LOL! I promised myself that I’d do a better job about finishing (or at least putting a significant dent in) the things I currently have, so I’m trying to wait until I get a little further into the Avene Tinted SPF and the Ulta Beauty SPF I bought earlier in the summer.

How does the lash lengthening mascara do in terms of curl lift and volume?

Also, have you tried anything else from the line that you love?

Their lash lengthening (original) mascara formula performs great for me. Lots ‘o length. My favorite thing about their serum skin tint is that they will color match you! Check it out on their site! They recommended a color I wouldn’t have picked but I have been so happy with the color on my skin!

Yay for Ilia! I have and love (too) many of their products. The eye tint in Fresco has been a go-to for me this summer. I also have Dim, which is more taupe. I have the Necessary eye palette in cool nudes and it’s great!

I love the mascara and I have a tube of the new volumizing formula but haven’t busted it out yet.

The real standout product for me is the Color Block lipstick. Such beautiful colors and the formula is so comfortable. My favs are Wild Rose and Marsala.

    Love this look on you!

Thanks, Megan! I think I may have just found my new favorite makeup brand! Thank you for the lipstick recommendations, and please let me know if there’s any other must-haves you think I should try.

They recently reformulated their tinted lip balm and I enjoy the 2 I picked up. They add a nice amount of sheer color (Runaway is a medium pink and is the one I wear the most). The lip wrap treatment mask is great as well. The multi-sticks are another good option. Very emollient and blendable.

Hi Karen, it’s always great to read your thoughts. I really like the Ilia classic mascara. It makes your eyes look awake, but not in a false lashes or heavy mascara way. It’s not a glam look, but great for every day natural beauty.
I’m also enjoying their lip mask. I really want to try the tinted serum,, but I also, like you, need to hit pan (or jar?) on a few things first.

          Hi Virginia,

Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll probably end up trying the classic mascara. 🙂

Glad you found some new faves!! Everything looks beautiful, of course. 🙂 Also, glad to hear that Connor is loving school. I’m sure I’ve said this many times but, up until the boys were about 14, whenever people would ask what my favorite age was, I’d always say NOW! I hope you’ll be saying the same about Connor for many, many years to come! 🙂

I don‘t think I have heard about this brand before, I guess it is not available here in Germany. But the colors look like something I would love too.
