A Plethora of Plum! Plum Lids, Liner and Glossy Plum Lips (and a Poll)

plum liner with honest beauty get it together paletteWhen your hair is crazy but you go with it.

This plummy look features one of my favorite palettes of all time, the Get it Together Palette by Honest Beauty!

I just saw a picture of Toni Colette (LOVE HER) in a magazine, and her makeup looked so beautiful… I wish I knew who the makeup artist was because I really like it. It looks like she’s wearing dark plum liner, matte neutral lids and a glossy plum lip… Anyway, I’m into it, and it inspired my makeup yesterday.

Of course, I had to put my own spin on it! 😁 Toni looks like she’s wearing full coverage based on how even her skin looks, and her brows look bold (but not too bold) and filled in, but I did a softer brow and just the sheerest amount of base I could get away with.

One of these days I’ll try a version of this look with fuller coverage and bolder brows. I think it could look very elegant for a dinner party or a night out with the girls.

I have the details listed below, but ya know, as always, if you have any questions about it, hit me up!

Makeup worn in this look:

  • BASE: Avene Solaire UV Tinted SPF 50
  • EYES: Honest Beauty Get It Together Eyeshadow Palette, Urban Decay Cannonball Mascara, Boy de Chanel Eyebrow Pencil in Deep Brown, MAC Prunella Pencil, Hourglass Retouching Fluid in Sand
  • CHEEKS: Chanel Blush No. 20, Laura Mercier Ginger
  • LIPS: Chanel Rouge Allure in 91 Seduisante and Rouge Coco Gloss in 754 Confusion

In other news…

People magazine, by the way. I don’t have a subscription, but a free issue arrived randomly in the mail, and despite the fact that I’m not really into celeb gossip…if I’m in a waiting room or at the salon, I will devour US Weekly and People with no shame.

Anywho, the feature with Toni was a Q&A with a bunch of questions I thought I’d “borrow” for us here. It might be fun if you’re up for it! You know I love me a poll, and not just on Monday mornings, ha!

Here we go. Just copy and paste, and add your answers in the comments:

Here are my answers…

Last time I sang out loud

This morning in the shower, and the song was De Ja Vu by Olivia Rodrigo, which is a bit too high for my vocal range, but I try anyway.

Last thing I discovered about myself

I like rowing more than running.

Last moment of self-care

Last night. I put my phone on sleep mode and stashed it in another room about an hour before bedtime so I wouldn’t be tempted to mindlessly scroll before going to sleep. I’ve been doing this for the past week, and it helps me fall asleep faster.

Last time I bonded with a horse

The one and only time I ever rode a horse, which was in Hawaii a couple years ago.

Last moment of bliss

Yesterday morning. I’d finished a long spinning class, and my body felt so spent (in a good way). Then when I was stretching afterwards, and the sweat was just rolling off every inch of me, I just felt so relaxed and chill… It was glorious!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

It’s been a while since I’ve broken out my Honest Beauty palette, but you’ve inspired me.
~ Last time I sang out loud: A couple of weeks ago on a road trip. We had a favorite songs playlist on.
~ Last thing I discovered about myself: I love learning and hearing other people’s opinions, but I hate it when authors use their fiction as a personal soapbox. Don’t bait-and-switch me.
~ Last moment of self-care: I bought an eye mask with heat, vibration, and massage. Amazing!
~ Last time I bonded with a horse: Never. #NotOutdoorsy
~ Last moment of bliss: I haven’t seen my girls as much since we moved. They came over this week and had a picnic on my floor.💖

      It’s such a great workhorse palette! 🙂

What did you guys have to eat for your floor picnic?

    I love the lip here!

Last time I sang out loud:

Yesterday on the way home from dog school with Mabel and my husband. Mabel was 8 months old yesterday!

Last thing I discovered about myself:

Snacks with too many carbs make me dizzy!

    Last moment of self-care:

    Went to bed early yesterday!

Last time I bonded with a horse:

Oh man. We went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg VA last summer and they had beautiful big Clydesdale horses that I petted while my family were riding a scary coaster.

    Last moment of bliss:

    Laying in bed this morning.

Big WOO HOO for going to sleep early! I went to sleep at 8 the other night — a full hour before sunset. (Blackout curtains help.) Seriously, I felt like a new person afterwards!

Last time I sang out loud
High school Spanish class (mandatory Christmas carols)
This was more years ago than I care to say.

Last thing I discovered about myself
You can lose weight without really trying if you’re working at home but not eating restaurant food very much. Also, stay away from the junk food while working.

    Last moment of self-care
Not sure how to answer that. I’m working while taking care of my elderly mother, and still recovering from Stage 4 lymphoma. I barely get 4-6 hours of sleep. What little I get to do for myself is read the internet, read books, and watch TV (probably more news shows than is really good for anyone).

Last time I bonded with a horse
I pet one of the Canadian Mounties’ Hanoverian horses some years ago, when they appeared at the Texas State Fair.

    Last moment of bliss
Probably 42 years ago (!) when I saw a tree absolutely full of male goldfinches in their spring plumage, in West Virginia. My life is almost entirely free of blissful things.

I don’t mean this unkindly in any way, but you absolutely wear this look better than Toni. It looks great on you! 🙂

Last time I sang out loud – this morning in the car. I’m one of those horrible people who always sings along to the radio or any music I know. Not well, have you. But I do it anyway.
Last thing I discovered about myself – that my spelling, grammar and punctuation/writing in general is getting terrible. I am horrified by the careless typos I seem to make these days. I can’t imagine what would go out if I didn’t proofread. This is a new and very unwelcome development!
Last moment of self-care – I am committed to doing it today after work on the treadmill. I’ve been way too lax this past week. Though I must say that I feel much better vegging than running.
Last time I bonded with a horse – it’s been a few years since I’ve ridden, but I don’t think I’ve actually bonded with a horse since I was a kid at horse camp. The trail rides I’ve done since then haven’t given me much quality time with my equine friends.
Last moment of bliss – my goodness, you ask the tough questions (for people who are not very introspective!). I suppose when boy #2 came home for the summer and we got to give each other a huge hug – the kind where you know you’ve been missed. 🙂
