A Plethora of Plum! Plum Lids, Liner and Glossy Plum Lips (and a Poll)

plum liner with honest beauty get it together paletteWhen your hair is crazy but you go with it.

I just saw a picture of Toni Colette (LOVE HER) in a magazine, and her makeup looked so beautiful… I wish I knew who the makeup artist was because I really like it. It looks like she’s wearing dark plum liner, matte neutral lids and a glossy plum lip… Anyway, I’m into it, and it inspired my makeup yesterday.

Of course, I had to put my own spin on it! 😁 Toni looks like she’s wearing full coverage based on how even her skin looks, and her brows look bold (but not too bold) and filled in, but I did a softer brow and just the sheerest amount of base I could get away with.

One of these days I’ll try a version of this look with fuller coverage and bolder brows. I think it could look very elegant for a dinner party or a night out with the girls.

I have the details listed below, but ya know, as always, if you have any questions about it, hit me up!

Makeup worn in this look:

  • BASE: Avene Solaire UV Tinted SPF 50
  • EYES: Honest Beauty Get It Together Eyeshadow Palette, Urban Decay Cannonball Mascara, Boy de Chanel Eyebrow Pencil in Deep Brown, MAC Prunella Pencil, Hourglass Retouching Fluid in Sand
  • CHEEKS: Chanel Blush No. 20, Laura Mercier Ginger
  • LIPS: Chanel Rouge Allure in 91 Seduisante and Rouge Coco Gloss in 754 Confusion

In other news…

People magazine, by the way. I don’t have a subscription, but a free issue arrived randomly in the mail, and despite the fact that I’m not really into celeb gossip…if I’m in a waiting room or at the salon, I will devour US Weekly and People with no shame.

Anywho, the feature with Toni was a Q&A with a bunch of questions I thought I’d “borrow” for us here. It might be fun if you’re up for it! You know I love me a poll, and not just on Monday mornings, ha!

Here are my answers…

Last time I sang out loud

This morning in the shower, and the song was De Ja Vu by Olivia Rodrigo, which is a bit too high for my vocal range, but I try anyway.

Last thing I discovered about myself

I like rowing more than running.

Last moment of self-care

Last night. I put my phone on sleep mode and stashed it in another room about an hour before bedtime so I wouldn’t be tempted to mindlessly scroll before going to sleep. I’ve been doing this for the past week, and it helps me fall asleep faster.

Last time I bonded with a horse

The one and only time I ever rode a horse, which was in Hawaii a couple years ago.

Last moment of bliss

Yesterday morning. I’d finished a long spinning class, and my body felt so spent (in a good way). Then when I was stretching afterwards, and the sweat was just rolling off every inch of me, I just felt so relaxed and chill… It was glorious!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. TGIF! 🤗

Somehow I thought this was yesterday posts, work has been exhausting but I’m enjoying it. Here are my answer:

Last time I sang out loud:
I think last week while mopping the floor, I was singing this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7dLNf-xQyo

Last thing I discovered about myself:
That working out in the mornings is a better option to me because I have enough energy to do it without problems.

    Last moment of self-care:
I think yesterday when I didn’t feel bad to do a shorter workout because of time.

Last time I bonded with a horse
Girl, I can’t remember. My uncle had a small ranch and I always rode his horse but it was maybe fifteen years ago.

    Last moment of bliss:
I know there are ones more recent but for me it was eating my self-made birthday cake.

    Happy Friday to everybody.

Well I’m working for a Brazilian bank in the customer experience area (in other words customer service), the bank is called Nubank and they’re still growing in Mexico.

I really like the fact that they’re truly open to diversity and the environment is friendly. Also the fact that is home office until next year is a big plus.

In a nutshell, I’m really happy about it and I also feel relieved that I’m working again.

You’re so personable and outgoing; I can see you being really great at your job. I bet that with the company growing, you’ll also be able to move into other areas if you want, too. Exciting! BTW I have friends who work in banking and they tend to stay in their careers for a while. I hope that this opportunity brings you so many great things in the future!

Thank you for all the best wishes Karen. Indeed it seems the job is a good match for my personality and you’re right the options for growing are really good at the moment.

Also, staying on a career path for a while sounds good.

            I hope you’re having a good day!

Last time I sang out loud
I can’t remember, which means it was too long ago.

Last thing I discovered about myself
That if I don’t work out, my back will kill me.

    Last moment of self-care
Sunday when the kids were in the bath and I had time for a pedicure.

Last time I bonded with a horse
    I can’t remember, years ago.

    Last moment of bliss
When watching the sunrise this morning – it was bright blue skies, but a slightly crispy breeze in the air.

Your adaptation looks *chef’s kissToni Collette is a terrific actress!

Last time I sang out loud: Rehearsing “99 Luftballons” for a fundraiser; my bandmates consist of judges and lawyers (and one professional drummer hubby legal professional-by-association). 🙂

Last thing I discovered about myself: I’m not a warm and fuzzy person! I feel like one inside but I don’t express like one!

Last moment of self-care: I consider applying skincare self-care; so, tallow balm on my feet at night so that they’re not shredded on the yoga mat in the morning.

Last time I bonded with a horse: Hm. Not lately.

Last moment of bliss: Wednesday’s birthday ribeye, medium rare….

    Happy Friday, Karen!

Last time I sang out loud – I used to be an airline pilot. I was on a layover in Florida and had just enough to drink to get up in the bar to sing Karaoke. I sang Willie Nelson’s “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” but as “Blue Hairs Driving in my Lane”. I can’t sing at ALL but the crowd loved the lyrics.
Last thing I discovered about myself – I can fly a jet, I have rappeled into a crime scene (midlife career change) and I’ve been shot at but Im terrified of getting on an escalator at O’Hare with a roller bag.
Last moment of self-care Last night, husband out of town – Mad Hippie Microdermabrasion Vitamin C treatment with a pot of orange tea and some Trader Joe Animal cookies.
Last time I bonded with a horse – I have an agreement with the family horse (out West). I don’t ride it – it doesn’t bite me.
Last moment of bliss – The rescue Labradors actually let me sleep in until 7 a.m.

Can I just say that it’s SO COOL that you used to fly? I’m not by nature someone who enjoys activities involving speed on the ground, but I feel like I could be really happy going really fast in a plane. Call me crazy, but I can just see it. How long did you fly?

I flew commercially for 20 years and left to care for elderly parents (using my Ph.D. in one of the forensic sciences to get a job for a three-letter agency like on TV but I solve NOTHING in an hour and my hair never looks that good). My last book was about those days – good memories.

I love that look! It’s so pretty and wearable. That Chanel blush is gorgeous, I think I might need to check it out.

Last time I sang out loud? I’ve been listening to a lot of 70’s music lately, and I listen to music when I cook dinner, so I’m sure it was some 70’s song, probably by Fleetwood Mac or the Eagles.
Last thing I discovered about myself? That I really can get things done, I’m not as clueless as I think I am about things.
Last moment of self-care? Anytime I paint my nails, it’s an hour of time that I just focus on myself, twice a week, it’s precious.
Last time I bonded with a horse? My parents have neighbors with horses, in the Summers the kids, they’re big kids 15 and 18, go over and feed to horses fruits from the yard, plums and peaches.
Last moment of bliss? The 20 minutes of sunrise every morning, watching it with an iced coffee, and surrounded by my three pugs and 8 cats. It’s quiet and serene before everyone wakes up and the chaos begins.

Oooh, I love a good plum look – I don’t need any more shadows but I just googled that Honest Beauty palette!
Last time I sang out loud: this morning, I sang one of my cats’ theme songs (to the tune of Mr. Sandman: Mr Boge-man, bring me a snug, make it the softest you’ve ever brung!)
Last thing I discovered about myself: I really, really like doing pilates on the regular.
Last moment of self-care: My massage therapist (she is now a very good friend after seeing her for the last 3ish years!) came over this morning and my hips are feeling SO much better.
Last time I bonded with a horse: Oh heavens – I was maybe 16?
Last moment of bliss: drinking my coffee after my massage therapist left. I had the perfect ratio of almond milk to cold brew and it just tasted SO good (and it was after a 90min massage that got out a LOT of trigger points, so I’m sure that helped).

I love the plum liner. Plum is such a good color for makeup on so many parts of the face.

Last time I sang out loud

When I was walking Hettie ! It was probably BTS 🤣

Last thing I discovered about myself

    That my hair is wavy!

    Last moment of self-care

I just did my home PT routine and my hand exercises. Getting ready to take a long bath.

Last time I bonded with a horse

Probably elementary or middle school. I had a friend down the street who had horses. Our next door neighbors also had horses and once they broke out and came over 🤣 country life.

    Last moment of bliss

    Laying in bed this morning.

Totally loved finding those mags in waiting rooms, ha!

Last time I sang out loud? 2 weeks ago, I was on a backpacking trip and scared of bears so I sang Fleetwood Mac, LL Cool J, whatever came to mind. Didn’t want to surprise any bears.
Last thing I discovered about myself? I’m more scared to drive on I70 in the mountains than I remembered.
Last moment of self-care? This week! Allowing myself to sleep in so I was ready for busy workdays.
Last time I bonded with a horse? Too long ago! I better meet up with one soon.
Last moment of bliss? Hmmm, I dont think I have that one in me.

Last time I sang out loud – sometime in the car this week, if a song comes on that I really like, I have to sing out loud!
Last thing I discovered about myself – that I am tougher and more adaptable than I ever thought. I have always liked my life to be planned out ahead of time, but this past year has shaken it up in a way that I never thought possible, and I have dealt with it better than I thought possible. Having said that, I still like my little routines just to keep some things predictable.
Last moment of self-care – right now. I am taking it easy today, battling a urinary tract infection and feeling pretty rubbish overall. I feel like I should be doing housework but I decided bother it, I am sick and I need time to heal, today I am going to take time off and just sit and browse the internet.
Last time I bonded with a horse – can’t say I have ever bonded with a horse. The last horse I tried to ride broke into a gallop when I wasn’t expecting, and I fell off, and decided that was the last time I was trying that 🙂
Last moment of bliss – hopping into bed last night with the electric blanket on 😊

Last time I sang out loud – Saturday in the car to Bruce Springsteen’s Rosalita – turned up really loud, of course!

Last thing I discovered about myself – How thankful I am for my friends. I seem to treasure them more every year.

Last moment of self-care – Last Friday – called in sick. I really needed a day off that felt like I was doing something clandestine!

Last time I bonded with a horse – Aug. 2017 in Iceland. We rented horses and mine kept stopping to eat -ha! I can still hear our guide; “Don’t let her eat – she’s not hungry – pull up the reins!” Our friends’ horse was famous – it was on Game of Thrones!

Last moment of bliss – Saturday afternoon and evening – we go together with 2 groups of friends. Oh – and I got out and birded (nature is my sanctuary/church)!
